We have been looking at comparing numbers this week in Year 2 . It was great fun. Using the crocodile head really helped us to consolidate our understanding.

In Birch class we have been taking on the role of  detectives and sorting out which  sentences are instructions and which are sentences from a story. We have key features that we are looking for such as imperative verbs that are  near the beginning of each sentences. These are bossy verbs!

Can you write down some instructions on how to get to school from your house?

Today in school we have been raising money for Children In Need. We have all dressed up in either 80‘s outfits or Pudsey clothes 🙂

We had lots of fun today and hopefully we will have raised lots of money for those children who are not quite as lucky as us.

Sometimes after an excitable lesson, we need to refocus ourselves in order to maintain a good level of learning. This week we have been trying something new. We have been using Yoga as a way to calm ourselves down and direct our focus to our next piece of learning.

We loved our cosmic yoga at the end of our PE session today.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

We are continuing our exploration of classic Roald Dahl stories. After completing ‘James and the Giant Peach’, we have now begun to read ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’.

These children have brought in their own copies of the story so that they can read along too.

If you have a copy at home, please bring it in.

Rainbow Grammar

This week in Year 2 we have been working really hard on improving our sentences. We have been identifying adjectives, nouns and verbs. We have been making sure that we include all of these within our sentences.

We have been using our Rainbow Grammar cards to help us with our writing and to remind us to include all of the key features of a super sentence.

What does an amazing sentence include?

In Birch we have been looking through lots of different information texts.

We have been answering questions based on the information in the fact files. We had to read through the fact files very carefully to make sure that we extracted the correct information.

What did you learn from your fact file?

Special Delivery

October 9th, 2017 · No Comments · Uncategorized

Today in Birch class we had a special delivery from the postman.

We have received a special letter from a pair of superheroes that are going to visit our school. These visitors will be coming into school on Thursday 19th October to complete Superhero Training with us.

We would like to encourage all the children in Year 2 to come dressed up as their favourite superhero. This can be a known hero or it can be a hero that they have created themselves.

Do you know which Superheroes will be visiting us?

Superhero Visitor

October 4th, 2017 · 2 Comments · Uncategorized

We have had an exciting day in Year 2. We were lucky enough to be visited by a Superhero.

We watched a News Report about a robbery that had taken place, which told us that a superhero was heading to

St. Augustines.

We prepared lots of questions, making sure that we included our Question Marks.

We loved asking our visitor all of our questions. We are going to use all of this information to help us write our own reports.

What question did you ask Supergirl?
